Book Recommendations: Devotionals

These are the books that have impacted me the most, the ones which I return to time and time again. They always pay dividends. (ranked in the order I’d recommend reading them).

Morning Thoughts by Octavius Winslow. I stumbled upon the writings of Winslow in 2024, and he quickly became a new favorite. Of his many excellent books, this may give readers the best taste of his greatness.

Walking with God Day by Day by Martyn Lloyd-Jones. The more I read Lloyd-Jones, the more I want to read Lloyd-Jones. This has been one of my 2024 devotionals, and if the Lord tarries, I look forward to reading through it again soon.

Saving Grace by C. John Miller. Greatly edified by this compilation of Jack Miller’s writings in both 2021 and 2022.

God’s Wisdom for Navigating Life: A Year of Daily Devotions in the Book of Proverbs by Tim Keller

The Songs of Jesus: A Year of Daily Devotions in the Psalms by Tim Keller

Voices from the Past, Vol. 1 by Richard Rushing (editor). Various puritan devotional readings. A great way to dive into the great puritan writers.

Voices from the Past, Vol. 2 by Richard Rushing (editor). As good or better than volume one. Hoping volume three is in the works.

The Promises of God by Charles H. Spurgeon

Family Worship Bible Guide by Joel Beeke – a great resource for family devotions.
